Fourth Quarter 2001
Major forces are exerting pressure on investers. The negative forces are the terrorist attacks, a slowing economy, a declining stock market and increasing unemployment. The positive forces are the deep interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve and the injection of billions of dollars into the economy by Washington. There is no consensus opinion on how these forces will play out in the near term.
This continues to be a time for those investing in stocks through mutual funds to position themselves for the next up move in the market by patiently accumulating more shares through reinvestment of their dividends and capital gains distributions as well as new purchases. The rewards go to those who stay in the race.
Keep looking at the big picture and do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance with your retirement, investment or life insurance planning questions.
